I haven't shared a craft project in a while. That has a lot to do with the kids being home now, and unless I want to allow them to be couch potatoes and play Wii all day or watch TV, I do not get the time to really dive in to my projects. My crafting idea's might have to wait till September. This one I actually started before school let out and I put the finishing touches on the other day while Nathan was at Cub Scout camp and Kaitlyn had a friend over.
It's nothing spectacular....anyone can do it. But I thought it was worth sharing.
My bread box makeover:
Step one:
clean the dust and grease film off the wood, and lightly sand the surface.
Step two: I gave it a couple coats of spray paint. I believe the color was eggshell. Then lightly sanded the edges to distress it a bit.
It looks nice like this, but because I like to label things, I had to add one final touch.
Step Three: Since I didn't have stencils in the size or font that I wanted, I printed it out from the computer and used carbon paper to trace it onto the box.
I used a paint pen to fill in the letters. Easy Peasy!
Oh and if you would like a chance to win a Silhouette Craft Cutter check out
Thrifty Decor Chick's post today. That would have really come in handy with this project. I could have just cut me some vinyl letter's and stuck them on there.
My focus now is turning our "junk room" in the basement into a make shift guest room for our relatives coming from Tennessee in a couple of weeks.
If I can pull it off, I will share it with you!

Breadbox turned out nice Kel! Do you have to put a protective coat over the lettering? Mom
I feel like I have been in crafting withdrawal for the last, hmm ... 5 years??? Maybe when the kids are bigger I will reveal my crafty side. (It's a limited ability crafty side, but it's in there!)
No fair...I like yours better! It is way more modern. Too cute! Thanks for sharing it with me.
