Ringing Rocks

On Monday after we took the kids to the dentist we visited a park in that area, called Ringing Rocks Park.

It is a field of boulders in the middle of a heavily wooded area.  Wierd huh?  How they got there is a mystery.  Some of the rocks are supposed to make a ringing sound when hit with a hammer, so we thought we'd go investigate.  I found it a bit fascinating the amount of large rocks and boulders there, but the ringing part?......a bit underwhelming.  Just sort of sounds like you are hitting a thick piece of iron.  And most rocks just make an empty "thud" sound.  The kids still enjoyed climbing the rocks and trying to find the rocks that ring.

So that is one more local place we can cross off the list. We can now say we've rung the "ringing rocks."
