It was a bit soggy out on the 4th to go see fireworks, so we went to Mom's for a taco dinner and ice cream. That was different from our usual cookout, but it worked since the weather was if-y. Saturday was to be our first big neighborhood picnic, but due to the passing of Hilary it was canceled out of respect to the family. We did, however, meet for some dessert and fireworks later on that evening. The kids had been looking forward to the fireworks all week and it's become sort-of a neighborhood tradition every Fourth of July. The kids had a blast and it was nice for us adults to regroup for a happier occasion (the last gathering was at the funeral) though, I couldn't help feeling sad as we were all there and thinking Hilary should be there with her family. Anyhow, our neighbors Chad and Brian did a great job with our little fireworks show. It was another late night so the kids went right to sleep. Another busy week ahead!
